These Terms & Conditions (โ€œTermsโ€) govern your use of Shroud. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

I understand that this is a legal agreement. What are the key points I should know about?

1. Eligibility

By using Shroud, you confirm that you are mentally and physically able to understand and agree to these Terms.

What are my responsibilities as a user?

2. User Responsibilities

Account Registration:

  • Register with a valid email and password.
  • You are responsible for your login credentials.
  • Respect other users' anonymity
  • Account sharing is prohibited and you do that at your own risk.

How do you handle content moderation while maintaining anonymity?

3. Anonymity & Group conversations

  • We will never reveal your real identity in conversations so, use a mystery name in conversations
  • Account sharing is prohibited and you do that at your own risk.
  • We do not actively monitor all conversations.

We may disclose information if:

  • Required by law.
  • Necessary to protect rights, of other users.

How do I participate in groups?

4. Group Creation & Participation

Start group conversations on the create screen by:

  • Entering a group name
  • Entering a mystery name
  • Entering a duration (free or paid)
  • Entering a participant limit (free or paid)

Group creators and participant receives a group ID to share to other users to join by navigating to the join screen by:

  • Entering the group ID
  • Entering a mystery name

Are there any other things I need to know about your service?

5. Ephemeral Conversations Policy

  • When a group expires, all messages, and metadata are permanently deleted.
  • We do not keep expired conversations data in backups.
  • This deletion is irreversible.

What extra measures do you have to protect anonymity?

6. Inactivity & Automatic Logout

To protect anonymity, we may log you out after:

  • A period of inactivity.
  • Leaving the app for an extended time.
  • Biometric login is available for faster re-entry.
  • Automatic logout is a security measure, not a technical error.

Tell me about payments and credits?

7. Payments & Credits

  • Some features require credits, purchasable in-app.
  • Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law.
  • To purchase more credits, go to the credits screen and select the amount of credits, you will like to purchase.
  • Please note that we process credits purchase with your debit or credit card and they are processed with a third-party payment service but we do not save any of your payment details.

Are there any limitations to your service?

8. Service Limitations

Shroud is provided โ€œas is.โ€ We are not responsible for:

  • Loss of messages after expiry.
  • We cannot guarantee 100% uptime, complete anonymity, or protection from all forms of harmful content
  • Users participate at their own risk.

Can these terms change over time?

We may update these terms periodically. Ensure to periodically visit this terms page to be up to date with the terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of new terms.
